PAHANG CLINCHES FA CUP AFTER EIGHT YEARS WAIT

MALAYSIA FA CUP FINAL: PAHANG 2 - FELDA UNITED 1

Pahang fought back and netted twice in the final 10 minutes to beat Felda United 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Shah Alam Stadium yesterday. Faizol Hussain scored the equaliser in the 80th minute after Edward Junior Wilson opened the scoring for for Felda in the first half. Dickson Nwakaeme turned hero when he found the net in the dying moments to hand Pahang their second FA Cup victory since 2006.

Felda started billiantly and dominated the early in the match as Pahang struggled to keep pace. Strengthened by good defensive line-up, Felda also had Edward Wilson, Indra Putra Mahayuddin and Zah Rahan Krangar to trouble their fancied opponents. Felda's determination was finally rewarded Liberia international, Edward Wilson exchanged passes with Indra in the penalty box before slotting home his 19th goal of the season.

Pahang returned in the second half to find the equaliser. They improved their performance and created a lot of problems for Felda's defence. Farizal had to stretch for a splendid save denying Mathias Conti's spectacular scissors kick. The Felda's keeper were tested again eight minutes later when Azamuddin sent a dangerous free kick towards the goal.

Faizol Hussain and Fauzi Roslan were sent in by Zainal for Azamuddin and Azizan to add more depth in his team's play. The Elephants were forced to substitute Conti with defender Zeshan Rehman in the 78th minute. Faizol then took matters into his own hands as he first scored the equaliser and then floated a perfect freekick onto Zeshan's path before the Pakistan international squared to Nwakaeme, who scored from close range.

It was a sweet victory for Pahang who had waited eight years to win the FA Cup again. Felda United were just unlucky despite being the first Premier League side to enter the FA Cup Final.
