JDT BEAT KELANTAN TO KEEP TITLE IN SIGHT

Johor DT bounced back from their boring goalless draw against LionsXII last week with a convincing 3-1 win over Kelantan at Larkin Stadium on Saturday. The Southern Tigers had new singnings Patito Rodriguez and Alhaji Kamara in their line-up, while Kelantan also named Austin Amutu and Gilmar Filho to strenghthen their squad.

​It was interesting to see both sides were playing on offensive tactics. Kelantan opened the scoring as Austin and Gilmar linked up to beat Izham Tarmizi. JDT increased their efforts and got the equalizer in the 17th minute. Harris Harun headed in Amri Yahyah's cross from the right.

The Southern Tigers finally found their touch after levelling the score. They took the lead five minutes later when Kamara's curling attempt beat Khairul Fahmi. Kelantan started to feel the pressure, coach Azraai Khor sent in Fakri Saarani for McKain in the 28th minute. However the his introduction could stop the firing JDT. Amri Yahya made it 3-1 for the Southern Tigers with a powerful grounder in the 41st minute.

​Kelantan threw everything in the second half but Bojan Hodak's boys were already cruising to victory. Wan Zack Haikal was sent in but could not find the net. JDT held on tightly to earn the three points in Larkin.

​ MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: PKNS 1 - PERAK 3 Perak recorded an important 3-1 win over PKNS in Shah Alam yesterday. Norhakim Isa opened the scoring for Perak in the 6 minutes after kick-off. His powerful shot beat Ramezy Che Ros . Perak was really in control. Ten minutes later, Hassan Daher increased the lead for Perak from a freekick. It was a valuable 3 points for Perak after an exciting away match. Perak could have scored more from many opportunities, but PKNS defended well towards the end. JDT WINS 2014 MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE

​ MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: SARAWAK 0 - JDT 1   Star-studded Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) clinched the coveted Super League title in style by beating Sarawak 1-0 at the State Stadium in Kuching. Matches played were the final fixtures in the 2014 Super League season which came to a close last night. JDT who finished with 44 points pocketed RM500,000 while second placed Selangor accumulated 41 points while Pahang with 37 points finished third.   Selangor finished as the runner-up after managing only a 2-2 draw against relegated PKNS FC at the Shah Alam Stadium. Argentina import Jorge Pereyra Diaz was the toast of JDT after squeezing in the winner in the 66th. Apart from winning the Super League title, JDT also earned a ticket to play in the Asian Football Confederation ( AFC Cup ) for the second time after 2009. MANCHESTER CITY WIN FIFTH PREMIER LEAGUE IN SIX SEASON

Manchester City bagged their third consecutive Premier League title after Nottingham Forest defeated Arsenal 1-0 on Saturday evening.  Under Pep Guardiola, City has won the title five times in the last six seasons. The Premier League is the first of a potential treble this season. They will play against Manchester United in the FA Cup final, and the Inter Milan in the Champions League final next month. Arsenal had an eight-point lead over City in January, but Guardiola’s side have overhauled them with three games to spare. Erling Haaland’s 36 goals in the league have been crucial to City’s success.
