MALAYSIA CUP: SELANGOR 2 - ATM 3
ATM captured an important 3-2 win over Selangor at the Shah Alam Stadium last night. The win rectified their disastrous Malaysia Cup opener against Sime Darby last Tuesday, and rejuvenates their Malaysia Cup hopes. The result also sent Selangor to the bottom of group A.
B.Satiananthan's men had more composure in a fair share of possession. Skipper Hairuddin Omar played attacking midfielder role to allow Marlon Alex James to continue pressuring Selangor defence. The tactical was fruitful as Hairuddin found the net in the 14th minutes after a penalty box scramble.
The Red Giants responded with an equaliser in the 29th minute after Amri Yahyah slid a Solihin Kanasian cross through Farizal's legs. However, the Gladiators added a second right before the break when Fitri Omar converted a pass from Marlon and Norazlan watched helplessly.
ATM was not satisfied with the narrow lead and made it 3-1 in the 46th minutes as Christie Jayaseelan headed in Fitri's cross. The desperate home side raised their game and pressed ATM to the end. Selangor could only get a consolation from Kunanlan in stoppage time as Forces held on for the important win.
