GERRARD WILL FINALLY LEAVE ANFIELD

Steven Gerrard has confirmed what many Liverpool fans had never thought possible - he will leave Liverpool at the end of this season. The 34-year-old former England captain is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and he has taken the difficult and emotional decision not to renew terms.

The Liverpool captain, who made his Liverpool debut in 1998, will not move to another English club. Gerrard, born in the Merseyside village of Whiston, joined Liverpool's academy when he was nine years old, making his first-team debut as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers in November 1998. He replaced Sami Hyypia as club captain in October 2003 and led the club to the Champions League title in 2005, scoring his side's first goal as they came from three down to draw 3-3 against AC Milan and then win on penalties.

Gerrard also won the Uefa Cup, two FA Cups, three League Cups, one Community Shield and two Uefa Super Cups.
He won 114 England caps, having made his international debut in 2000, captaining his country for the first time in 2008 and leading them at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, as well as at Euro 2012. The midfielder retired from international football after England exited the 2014 World Cup in Brazil at the group stage.

LA Galaxy announced that they have signed the Liverpool legend a Designated Player on Wednesday. Gerrard is scheduled to join the Galaxy's roster during Major League's Soccer summer transfer window in July.

La Albiceleste 's latest title comes on the back of their triumphs at the 2022 World Cup and 2021 Copa America. The victory gives eight-times Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi the perfect sendoff in what is likely his last international tournament. The win, which saw Argentina move ahead of Uruguay after the pair had been tied on 15 Copa titles, marked Angel di Maria 's final international match. Martinez, who came off the bench in extra time, latched onto a precise through ball from Giovani Lo Celso before lifting his effort over advancing Colombia goalkeeper Camilo Vargas in the 112th minute to spark wild celebrations at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. The defeat ended a Colombian record 28-match unbeaten streak for Nestor Lorenzo 's side, whose last loss also came against 'La Albiceleste' in February 2022. Colombia captain James...
