BRAZIL BIGGEST WORLD CUP DEFEAT TO GERMANY

WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL: BRAZIL 1 - GERMANY 7

Germany ended Brazil's World Cup dreams in a brutal fashion after a 7-1 humiliation. A stunning performance from Germany and a disgracefully amateur turn from Brazil led to a historic result in the World Cup semifinal at Belo Horizonte. Brazil's players mourned the absence of the injured Neymar before kick-off, but captain Thiago Silva was an even bigger loss. The result was their first competitive home defeat in 39 years, and the end of their hopes of making it to the World Cup final at the iconic Maracana on Sunday.

Thomas Muller gave the three-time winners an early lead before a period of utter chaos saw Miroslav Klose break the World Cup scoring record, Toni Kroos add two more in the space of 179 seconds and Sami Khedira net a fifth. Chelsea striker Andre Schurrle, on as a substitute, added two more after the break before Brazil's followers delivered what must be regarded as the defining insult to their national team.

Thousands of Brazil supporters were reduced to tears just after less than 30 minutes, and reduced to such a state of shock that it was only at half-time that they registered their first serious dissent. The score equalled Brazil's heaviest margin of defeat, a 6-0 loss at the hands of Uruguay in the 1920 Copa America, but the impact of this reverse, not just on the world stage but in their homeland, will put this alongside the 1950 World Cup final defeat by the Uruguayans in Rio as their darkest football day.

Luiz Felipe Scolari's side crumbled in the space of seven minutes is likely to be a matter of national debate in this country for years to come. This was Brazil's first defeat at home for 12 years. The loss for a country built on sporting pride, and at their own World Cup, will be bad enough to take. The scale of defeat will take the inquests to a new level. This was the first time a team had scored seven in a World Cup semi-final, and the biggest defeat in one of these games, beating West Germany's 6-1 victory over Austria in 1954.

PERAK WINS IN SHAH ALAM

MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: PKNS 1 - PERAK 3 Perak recorded an important 3-1 win over PKNS in Shah Alam yesterday. Norhakim Isa opened the scoring for Perak in the 6 minutes after kick-off. His powerful shot beat Ramezy Che Ros . Perak was really in control. Ten minutes later, Hassan Daher increased the lead for Perak from a freekick. His 30 metres grounder played the trick against PKNS defenders. PKNS did not give up. They managed to reduce the deficit with a goal late in the first half. Perak was really unstoppable. They were hunting for more goals after the break. In the 63rd minute, Ridzuan Azly Husain beat 3 PKNS players before sending a cross for Milan Purovic to tap in Perak's third goal. It was a valuable 3 points for Perak after an exciting away match. Perak could have scored more from many opportunities, but PKNS defended well towards the end. JDT WINS 2014 MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE

MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: SARAWAK 0 - JDT 1 Star-studded Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) clinched the coveted Super League title in style by beating Sarawak 1-0 at the State Stadium in Kuching. Matches played were the final fixtures in the 2014 Super League season which came to a close last night. JDT who finished with 44 points pocketed RM500,000 while second placed Selangor accumulated 41 points while Pahang with 37 points finished third. Selangor finished as the runner-up after managing only a 2-2 draw against relegated PKNS FC at the Shah Alam Stadium. Argentina import Jorge Pereyra Diaz was the toast of JDT after squeezing in the winner in the 66th. Apart from winning the Super League title, JDT also earned a ticket to play in the Asian Football Confederation ( AFC Cup ) for the second time after 2009. MANCHESTER CITY WIN FIFTH PREMIER LEAGUE IN SIX SEASON

Manchester City bagged their third consecutive Premier League title after Nottingham Forest defeated Arsenal 1-0 on Saturday evening. Under Pep Guardiola, City has won the title five times in the last six seasons. The Premier League is the first of a potential treble this season. They will play against Manchester United in the FA Cup final, and the Inter Milan in the Champions League final next month. Arsenal had an eight-point lead over City in January, but Guardiola’s side have overhauled them with three games to spare. Erling Haaland’s 36 goals in the league have been crucial to City’s success. The Football Writers’ Association player of the season’s tally is a Premier League record, the Norwegian scoring more than a third of City’s 92 league goals in 35 matches. TIGERS SUPER SPORTS
