KELANTAN THRASHED JOHOR DT IN KOTA BHARU

MALAYSIA CUP: KELANTAN 6 - JDT 1

Defending champions, Kelantan destroyed Johor DT's hope to lift a first trophy this season by winning 6-1 in the Malaysia Cup quarter final second leg match tonight. The match at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium sent Kelantan into the semi final stage with 8-5 aggregate. Kelantan needed just a 2-0 win before the match, but the Red Warriors were too powerful on their home pitch where JDT couldn't hold on.

The home side started perfectly in the hunt for goals as they were in complete control throughout the match. Mohd Norfarhan opened the scoring in the 19th minute after receiving a pass from Dickson Nwakaeme.

The home fans were on their feet again when Mohd Badhri Radzi scored their second goal to level the aggregate 4-4 with the advantage of 2 away goals scored in Johor last week.

As the Red Warriors were building up their confidence, JDT's Safee Sali brilliantly took the advantage in the 42nd minute after a misunderstanding incident between Kelantan players Khairul Fahmi and Azizi Mat Rose.

The home side did not take long to react. Two minutes later, Nwakaeme tapped-in following JDT's goalkeeper failure to save an Indra Putra Mahayuddin's freekick. Both teams went into the break with the Red Warriors leading 3-1.

As the match resumed, Kelantan added another goal as Nwakaeme headed-in from Indra Putra's pass. JDT's game started to turn into a disaster.

Maybe four goals were just not enough for the home side. In the 62nd minute, Norfarhan found the net again with a nice grounder to beat JDT's goalkeeper for the fifth time tonight.

JDT's nightmare was not over until Indra Putra made it six past JDT and send a strong message to the visitors, money can't buy glory.
