SIR ALEX TO STEP DOWN AS UNITED MANAGER

Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson announced that he will retire as the club manager at the end of the season after 26 years in charge. The 71 years old Scot, has won 38 trophies during his reign at Old Trafford and will now become a director and ambassador for the club.

His achievements includes 13 league titles, two Champions League crowns, five FA Cups and four League Cups. Everton's David Moyes is the bookmakers' favourite to take over, with Jose Mourinho, currently at Real Madrid, also tipped.

Ferguson, is confident his successor will take over a club in good health after winning their 20th top-flight title 17 days ago. He praised the people he felt helped him build the club from a team that had not won a title for 26 years into one of the biggest in the world.

Ferguson is the most successful manager in the history of the British game and famously won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in 1999.

​ MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: PKNS 1 - PERAK 3 Perak recorded an important 3-1 win over PKNS in Shah Alam yesterday. Norhakim Isa opened the scoring for Perak in the 6 minutes after kick-off. His powerful shot beat Ramezy Che Ros . Perak was really in control. Ten minutes later, Hassan Daher increased the lead for Perak from a freekick. His 30 metres grounder played the trick against PKNS defenders. PKNS did not give up. They managed to reduce the deficit with a goal late in the first half. ​ Perak was really unstoppable. They were hunting for more goals after the break. In the 63rd minute, Ridzuan Azly Husain beat 3 PKNS players before sending a cross for Milan Purovic to tap in Perak's third goal. It was a valuable 3 points for Perak after an exciting away match. Perak could have scored more from many opportunities, but PKNS defended well towards the end. SIME DARBY HOLD JDT IN SELAYANG

​MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: SIME DARBY 1 - JDT 1 Sime Darby stunned star studded Johor Darul Takzim  after holding them at the Selayang Stadium on Saturday. The winless home side collected their first point in the 1-1 draw with last season Super League Champions.   Sime Darby took the lead in the 35th minute through Muhammad Nazrul Kamarulzaman . Nazrul tapped-in Nemanja Vidakovic effort just four minutes after he was introduced into the game to replace the injured Mohd Firdaus Azizul . JDT doubled their efforts in search of the equaliser but Sime Darby held on until the break. ​Bojan Hodak sent in Mahali Jasuli to provide more attacking options. JDT finally got the equalizer on the hour mark when Junior Eldstal fired in Mohd Amri Yahyah 's cross. The Southern Tigers continued to press for the winner but Sime Darby held on to collect their first point of the season. QF: GERMANY 4 - ARGENTINA 0

Thomas Muller and Miroslav Klose were on target once more as Germany booked their World Cup semi-final place at the expense of Argentina. Muller netted the last two goals in the 4-1 win over England last time but was quicker off the mark in Cape Town, heading home in the third minute as Joachim Low's side made a blistering start. Klose, who had scored the opener against England, then tapped home a 67th minute second. Arne Friedrich netted a third seven minutes later and Klose scored his second with a minute to go to make sure of the success over Diego Maradona's men.
